Pickle is a great topic! And I loved the reminder of the Pickle Family Circus - they used to travel along the west coast through small towns, setting up in the city parks and delighting children everywhere. I'm so glad to learn about the book about their heyday!
Thank you for the Arlo Guthrie mention, which triggered the 1970s memory of my impossibly hip aunts and uncles who played guitars and taught us silly songs (“… and I don’t want to die, I just wanna ride on my motorcy,….cl.”) and introduced me to Second City and then Saturday Night Live.
While at Jumbo's Win Win in Philo (a worthy day trip!) I discovered Donna's Pickle Beer. I wasn't brave enough to try it but it seems to be a big success. Found out it's an actual thing in the beer world. To each their own! Or as a Swede would say, 'taste is like a butt, divided.' Throwing that in there in honor of the AI logos mention.
A pop song I remember (first musical "pickle" reference) as a kid, starts off:
My mom gave me a nickel to buy a pickle
I didn′t buy a pickle I bought some choo′n gum
Choo, choo, choo, choo, choo, choo'n gum
How I love choo′n gum
I'm crazy over choo′n gum I chew, chew, chew…(it goes on: "My aunt gave me a quarter for soda water, etc." (The "quarter" and "dollar" verses aren't nearly as memorable.)
I hadn't hear of Teresa Brewer for years, so I looked her up on Wikipedia. This song is titled 'Choo'n Gum'. She also had a song called 'Pickle Up a Doodle'.

May I nominate the timely Italian word “papabile”? It means a likely contender for being the next pope—a “popeable.”
Nice!

Love the Swedish saying! And pickle beer sounds ... intriguing.
Comedian Ricky Gervais and his wife have made a social media celebrity of their beautiful tabby cat, named Pickle. She is really very cute.
And Arlo's next line was "And I don't want to die (he had gone off a cliff on his bike), I just want to ride on my motor cy (very long pause) ...cle."
And then he'd say, "I knew it wasn't a very good song, but I didn't have much time."

The Canadian artist JC Little has a delightful series of children’s books starring Pickleweasel, filled with wordplay and brain teasers.

Just don’t look up the word on Urban Dictionary… 🤪
